The most common symptoms are:
• fever, tiredness and dry cough;
• pneumonia (more severe cases);
• aching and muscle pain;
• nasal congestion and sore throat; diarrhea.
COVID-19 is transmitted from one infected person to another through:
• saliva, coughing and sneezing;
• direct personal contacts (such as touching or shaking hands and bringing them to the mucous membranes);
• by first touching an object or surface contaminated by the virus and then placing your hands (not yet washed) on your mouth, nose or eyes;
• faecal contamination (rarely).
Conditions of alleged contagion
If you have flu symptoms with or without a fever, if you come from risk areas or have had close contacts withm virus positive people in the previous 14 days, you have the obligation not to move from your home or to come back home not using public trasport and notify the general practitioner as soon as possible or the Coronavirus toll-free number 800936677 from 8 to 20.
By “who has had close contact” we mean:
• those who live in the same house as a COVID-19 case;
• those who have had direct physical contact (eg. handshake) with a COVID-19 case;
• those who have had unprotected direct contact with the secretions of a COVID-19 case (e.g. touching used paper tissues with bare hands);
• those who have had direct contact with a case of COVID-19 at a distance of less than 2 meters and lasting more than 15 minutes;
• those who have been in a closed environment with a case of COVID-19 for at least 15 minutes, at a distance of less than 2 meters;
• the healthcare worker or laboratory staff involved in handling samples of a COVID-19 case;
• those who have traveled sitting by plane in the two adjacent seats, in any direction, of a COVID-19 case, traveling companions or assistance persons and crew members assigned to the section of the plane where the index case was sitting.
